UTS Rowing Club Rowing Pontoons – Haberfield, NSW

November 13, 2014

Walcon completed the design, construction and installation of the rowing pontoon and gangway for UTS Rowing club in April 2014.

Through modern design and engineering, two 12m x 6m pontoons were connected to create a large 24m x 12m structure. Each aluminium frame is braced and welded together using marine grade aluminium (6082T6). The pontoons are then connected to each other using stainless steel 316 hardware. The large gangway/ramp was fabricated in similar fashion.

Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) decking was used to provide the client with a low maintenance, long lasting solution.

The overall structure has been designed to withstand the rigors of the marine environment, with a warranty of 25 years.

The redeveloped UTS Rowing Club facility houses a state of the art rowing club and a licensed, community focused club. The downstairs rowing shed includes decking, pontoon, change rooms, office and dry training area.

This elite level rowing club ensures that students and members have access to a world class rowing facility on the waters of Haberfield. Furthermore, the UTS Rowing Club is recognised as one of the finest rowing facilities in Australia.
