Marine Infrastructure Works For Public Water Taxi Stations in Abu Dhabi
Walcon Marine Australia, a global leader in marina design and construction, has recently secured a contract to design, fabricate, and supply elements of a network of floating concrete pontoons to service the public transport water taxi service in and around the inland waterways of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Ports Group has awarded China Harbour Engineering Company the principal marine infrastructure contract who has in turn approached Walcon Marine to provide their expertise in the design and supply of the floating pontoon elements and access gangways. A total of fifteen Water Taxi Stations including one at Yas Bay acting as a marine terminal are included in stage 1 with a further twelve water Taxi stations being considered within optional scope.
The Water Stations typically comprise of floating pontoon systems and shall be able to accommodate a range of different types of water taxis up to 22.5m in length and provide a stable and safe platform for access and egress of the public and crew.
